Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Every member of the C Spire Crew is entrusted with realizing our strategic vision.

The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for supporting the demand for data and analysis. Key duties include analyzing data, creating dashboards, visualizations, reports, and datasets, and using data analysis to solve complex business challenges.

This position is available as a Business Intelligence Analyst I, Business Intelligence Analyst II, Business Intelligence Analyst III, and Senior Business Intelligence Analyst.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders to comprehend business requirements and translate them into actionable analytics solutions.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data to discern trends, identify opportunities, and highlight areas for improvement.
  • Reporting and Visualization: Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to monitor key performance metrics.
  • Data Governance: Ensure data accuracy and integrity by implementing best practices for data governance and quality assurance.
  • Decision Support: Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership to facilitate decision-making processes.
  • Business-Technical Alignment: Bridge the gap between business and technical teams to enable insights that enhance decision-making.
  • Customer Support: Assist internal customers by performing various complex queries and analytical tasks.
  • Policy Compliance: Adhere to organizational policies, including defining scope, coding and query standards, quality assurance processes, and data verification policies.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent experience.
    • Proficiency in using software tools to gather and extract data for review and analysis.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
    • Exceptional organization and presentation skills.
    • Demonstrated ability in planning and execution, with meticulous attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

    PREFERRED:

    • PhD or Master's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Statistics.
    • Advanced proficiency in SQL.
    • Skilled in utilizing report and data visualization platforms.
    • Familiarity with Stata, SPSS, or other statistical applications.
    • Knowledge of Python or other programming languages used in data analysis.
    • Experience in developing machine learning models.
    • Minimum of two years of relevant technical experience or four years of relevant experience.

    BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST I

    Experience using SQL. Previous experience as a team member. Understanding of business terms, processes, and data systems. Ability to perform statistical analysis using Excel or similar tools. Entry-level position.

    BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST II:

    Work experience with data extraction tools, analytics software, or statistics software. Capable of conducting semi-complex data analysis. Demonstrated effectiveness as a team player. Proficient in understanding front-end and back-end environments. History of independent problem-solving with a sense of ownership.

    BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST III:

    Three or more years of direct experience using analytics software. Proficiency in data extraction tools. Demonstrated ability to work and lead effectively in a team. Skilled in selecting appropriate presentation methods for data. Able to advise customers based on data analysis results. Commercially aware with a focus on business success. Able to design and build algorithms, reports, and dashboards to meet business needs.

    SENIOR BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ANALYST:

    Five or more years of direct experience using analytics software. Expertise in data extraction tools. Effective team leader and member. Recognized as an expert by peers and customers. Extensive knowledge of business and operational systems. Commercially aware with a focus on business success. Skilled in advising customers based on detailed data analysis. Proficient in collecting and documenting business requirements for data analysis. Capable of developing algorithms, reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to meet or exceed business requirements.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer keyboard and mouse while viewing a computer screen. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional after-hours and weekend work.
